Galettes are like pie's younger sister. They’re related in shape and sometimes flavors, but the galette is more carefree, attention-seeking — presented as is on the table, its ingredients on full display.
As evidenced by their artful, delicious take on the form, Friday Galettes knows this well. After a successful summer launch in the Hamptons, friends Sarah Shanfield and Ana Hito are bringing Friday Galettes to the city for the holiday season.
The concept is simple: two (sometimes three) galettes available for local delivery or pickup each Friday in Tribeca (address shared the day before). The menu changes weekly and has at least one sweet and one savory option, each made with locally sourced ingredients. Some weeks, sophisticated takes on pantry items are also on offer, like cacio e pepe crackers that snap like cheesy Wheat Thins. Winter flavors include a sweet miso-apple and figgy-goat cheese galette with bites of thyme. It’s holiday hosting made easy. –Sylvie Florman
